GoLiveHost's Managed Hosting come with all of the features of our equivalent Web Hosting plans, with additional and enhanced support for customizing your server, and for troubleshooting and configuring more advanced or non-standard settings that you are normally left to figure out for yourself.
At GoLiveHost, we understand that there are areas of running your website that you may not have expertise in, and while we provide a comprehensive and powerful Control Panel to manage your site, there may be times where something you want to do falls outside of what the standard server setup provides, or you aren't sure how to go about doing something on your server. The Managed Hosting packages give you the freedom and support that you need to go forward.
Some examples of the kind of things we can help you with include:
- Troubleshooting paths and permissions.
- Free setup of extra MySQL databases
- Free setup of JSP for your domain
- Setting up custom virtual host or server options.
- Adding redirects or custom error pages.
- Installing non-standard libraries or modules for added server functionality.
- Modifications to web or ftp server configurations for your domain.
- Advice on scripts or packages that may be suitable for your task at hand.
- Adding additional MySQL/Postgres users.
- Helping with password protecting directories
Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and while we can't guarantee that every request can be granted (e.g. if they fall outside the scope of minor changes, or may compromise the security of the server), the Managed Hosting account covers a lot of requests and adjustments that many other hosts either don't let you do at all, or will not offer any advice or support to help you carry them out yourself.
Some things that fall outside the scope of what the Managed Hosting account fees include are:
- Writing HTML, Perl/PHP/etc scripts or other programming.
- Installing complete packages (such as shopping carts, forums, etc) onto your server.
- Writing complex mod_rewrite directives or grep statements for processing.
- Copywriting, proofreading, or fixing poorly coded pages or scripts.
Setup fees may apply to some installations, and should they arise we will discuss these with you prior to carrying them out. If we are unable to fulfill a request you make, we will clearly explain why, and discuss the alternatives and solutions available to you.
